Weekend Wrap-up

I haven't blogged about my life in awhile, so let's do that.

On Friday nite, I took the MARC train to Baltimore, where Caroline picked me up and we drive up to pick up her the little boy she's currently "banging". We headed over to Sonar for a little indie rock dance party called Tax Lo . We downed 3 drinks in 30 minutes, to take advantage of the $1 rails/Natty Bos before 11PM special. I chased my drinks with a Sparks and danced with a ton of underagers.

We were having so much fun dancing and lost track of time. We left a little after 11:30 and headed over to Fletcher's for the Bravery. We missed most of their set, but I caught the last 4 songs. After the show, I accosted Sam and Michael and whined to them again about the lack of an EP. Sam said that their full length come out in March, right about the time when they will be playing at the Black Cat.

We attempted to go to one more bar, but as soon as I sat down, it was pretty much over for me. I had two sips of my beer before I felt the need to go home. I called Matt 3 times and asked him to come pick me up and take me back to Baltimore, but he was partying in D.C. and couldn't drive out there in the state he was in.

Caroline took me back to her place, tucked me in and snuck off to be with her man. I slept wonderfully in her bed and I woke up to natural sunlight, which was amazing. I don't see much of that in the cave. Caroline was back home by 8 and we fell back asleep for a few more hours.

I also blew $60 on new cds including, the 2 new Bright Eyes, which I said that I wouldn't buy because they always put me in a funk, like previous winters, but I am having a fabulous winter, so they make me smile for the first time. Also purchased was Dogs Die in Hot Cars, The Moving Units and Action Action.

On Saturday nite, Liz Ruby, Kyle, Kelly and Matt came over for Enchilada dinner, that Liz and Sarah and Kel made in honor of Liz's b-day last week. It started snowing. And then we went to Wonderland. There were a lot of assholes there and I was tired. Matt and I spent most of the time smoking cigarettes and taking photos.

Soon, I had enough and we headed over to the Cat, which was more familar and homey, but I was still tired. I couldn't even finished my beer, so Matt took me home, we listened to Interpol and went to bed.

After Sunday bruch at Tonic, Tim and I picked up some Budweiser E (Sparks' newest rival)and a Powerball ticket. It was a lovely day spent in the Cave with Sarah, Ape, and Ivy watching Anchorman and Shaun of the Dead. "I'm in a glass case of emotion."

The end.

Take me away, I'm dying.

Literally, I am freaking out cuz all my favorite bands are coming to DC from now until May. Dude, all you would have to say is the Strokes too and that would be it, I would die of excitement and you would have to attend my funeral instead of going to the shows.

Check out my shows list to see who.

It's a nice day for a white wedding, but do I still get to be Meg Casablancas?

Gawker reports, "When Page Six reported that Drew Barrymore, actress/arm candy of Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti, was spotted with a friend at Fifth Avenue’s Bridal Suite of Manhattan, prepubescent Strokes-watchers were all atwitter. Sure, Barrymore said she was there to help her friend, but that’s not going to stop the buzz that Barrymore and Moretti could be looking for some matrimonial indie-bliss. What the paper didn’t report, however, was the name of Barrymore’s friend, who, as documented by these reader-supplied images, is none other than Juliet Joslin. Yes, that Juliet Joslin, the very lady who happens to be genuinely engaged to lead Stroke Julian Casablancas. While breakup rumors for The Julianet seem to flow as constantly as the grease from Casablancas’ locks, we’ve also been hearing numerous reports (read: more than three) that pair might be headed down the aisle in February. Which would make these pictures very interesting, don’t you think?"

How old are you really?

You Are 17 Years Old

17

Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe.

13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.

20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.

30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!

40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.

My 15 minutes.

Last nite as I was walking home from the metro, I ran into Jackie Benson from News4 NBC on my corner who interviewed me about the robbery/muggings in Mt. Pleasant.

I was the top story for the 11:00 news.

Shortly after that, I received calls and texts from my fans.

Miss G says, "You telly star you! The lead story on 11:00 news! Well done."

"You are a media whore! And you somehow weaseled yourself onto tv! Love Ivy and t-rex"

Matt agreed, "Yes, you are totally a celebrity now."

Holy Shit!!

So, earlier this morning, The Black Cat website said that the Bravery had cancelled. Just now I checked it and they are playing with ASH on March 10.

PLUS this:

SATURDAY, APRIL 9 (right after I get back from Vegas)

BLOC PARTY on the mainstage at the CAT. Boo yeah!!

This just in . . . Autolux is playing the Cat the same nite as Ambulance. Not sure if it's going to be the same show or the same night, different stage. But I'm confused, cuz Autolux's website says, that they are playing Irving Plaza with the Secret Machines on March 5. We shall see.

THIS IS TOO MUCH EXCITEMENT AT 5:30 PM on a MONDAY. I'm going to explode.

I was wondering where Kaitlin Cooper went.

The O.C. creator Josh Schwartz will be working on a direct O.C. spinoff following the younger sister of Marissa, Kaitlin Cooper, at boarding school. Described as a TV version of Mean Girls, the new show is tipped to premiere January 2006.

They will be hitting D.C. on March 4 at the 9:30 Club.

The first quarter of 2005 is full of excellent rock n roll.

you move with me, I'll feed you light.

Interpol is going around a second time. Doesn't look like they'll be stopping in D.C. this time, but Philly is close enough.

February 28 at the Electric Factory.

But damn, I just decided to go to the Ottobar on the 28th for I Love You But, I've Chosen Darkness.

That is just about the best damn band name in history.
