Events update

If you love the Hard Tomorrows and are eagerly awaiting their CD release, I know about an event to tide you over.

On Wednesday night, at Polly's Cafe on U Street, Rob Pierangeli is playing an acoustic set at 9:00 p.m. Also playing that evening, are Aaron, Sean and Tom with their new unnamed band. I saw them at Tim/Mark's Afternoon Delight this weekend, and they really blew me away. Aaron has an incredible voice. So don't miss this show.

If you can't make that show, then be sure to check him out on September 23 at Iota. Rob is opening for the Sketches and the Upwelling.

The latest.

I hear that the Strokes new album has a release date of January 24. Hopefully, they will hurry up and get it out in time for my birthday (Jan. 8)

The first single, Juicebox, should hit in October and they will be filming a video in September. I hope that this album is orgasmic, because this news seems to be building up to a big climax for me.

Julian has been busy getting ugly tattoos, such as the spider, pictured in posts below. Word on the street is that he has been spotted getting more. Hope these aren't as bad. I am interested to see if he will rock the popped collar on the new tour.

No new tour dates, other than South America have been announced. But I will keep posting them as I hear about them. My plan is to go to Baltimore/DC, NYC and Boston/Rhode Island.

If anyone gets there hands on an early release of the CD, please e-mail me the mp3s.

And his wedding ring!!

And thanks to Toledotastic for the picture of Jules with wedding ring.

Memo to Julian:

Stop popping your collar and being cheesy and hanging out with Josh Hartnett. Get back in the studio. I can't wait until January 2006 for the new album. Also, eat something.

Luv,
Your biggest fan,
Meg Casablancas

I can't stop

Are you on the Libertines mailing list? Well, I am, and they send emails almost everyday telling me about new bands. I usually delete them, but today's subject line intrigued me: "Carl's signed The Mardous to Poptones, they're his favourite new band..." I'd like to think that Carl knows what he is talking about. So I checked them out and now I can't stop listening to The Mardous. Check out the audio page and click on Another Einstein. I think it's great and sweet and cute. And they have a myspace page too. Their debut single comes out on August 8, but probably on in the UK.

Frodo Launches Record Label

from imdb.com
Actor Wood To Launch Record Label

The Lord Of The Rings star Elijah Wood is such a fan of rock music he's decided to launch his own record label. Wood will open the as-yet-untitled label later this year and he's hoping to attract a wide range of acts. The 24-year-old says, "Since I was 13, I've been utterly obsessed with music. There's a wealth of amazing bands out there who have nowhere to go. I want to have the chance to release things that might not necessarily get released otherwise. My taste is pretty eclectic, so my label won't have a specific sound. Though if Radiohead are ever looking for a deal, I'd sign them any time." But, despite his willingness to help musicians secure a record deal, Wood has no plans to release his own album. He tells British magazine Q, "I don't have a great love for bands with actors in them. Me prancing around onstage? That's not going to happen."

So who is Frodo going to put on his label? Actor friends? Or legitimate musicians? I think it would be pretty fun to be on his label. You automatically would get a lot of press. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? It could go either way. I suggest that people start sending him demos and let's see.

Stay Where You Are

Ambulance LTD is headlining at the Cat on October 22. Thanks to The Upstate Life for the tip. Looks like it is on the Cat website already, I just skimmed through the list too quickly this morning. I better get on these tickets soon, I'm sure it's going to sell out.

Ambulance makes me and the mammal THIS happy:
